For 3 years in Ukraine, procurement and supply specialists have been receiving qualifications from the leading institution in the field of procurement and supply chain management – Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS, UK). This has become possible thanks to the platform of international education programmes House of Knowledge in Kiev, which enables Ukrainian procurement specialists to pass the strategic programme Diploma in Procurement & Supply. In addition to knowledge, networking and understanding of the global “procurement market”, students of the programme also receive an internationally recognized British diploma.
We have collected our students’ testimonials, so that you could get a clear idea as to why established professionals would seek to return to the path of learning.
CIPS education helps implement the certification of companies in accordance to its standards
Artem Gagarin, Director of the Administrative Department, Datagroup
The CIPS certificate helps to get rid of a lot of questions from potential business partners.
Informative, helpful, modern and applicable. I’m sure my fellow students have already described in detail the benefits and the potential of this programme. I would like to draw your attention to another important element that often goes unnoticed. We are moving rapidly into the modern world of technology and process improvement. More and more companies want to be certified in various areas, especially in accordance with CIPS standards. Yes, these directions, certification and training are not directly related. With this education, you get a better understanding of how to implement certification in a company and what the result should be. Large companies and multinational corporations always strive to meet the CIPS standard as it gets rid of a lot of questions from potential business partners. Time is the most valuable resource. The market needs both knowledge centers and centers of expertise in procurement. If we fail at that, we risk losing Ukrainian procurement professionals to foreign experts due to a lack of expertise, such as the CIPS programme. My thought is that “common sense” is a cross between two things: understanding of the internal market’s inner workings and CIPS’s unified approach. As a result of such synergy, we can get an impressive result.
Networking is an additional bonus of the CIPS programme
Tetyana Zhmudenko, GIZ Procurement Manager
Studying at CIPS has allowed us to see processes more globally as a balanced system and define development areas.
Of particular value to the program is its integrity, the need to study all the modules that give a comprehensive picture of the full cycle of procurement. I believe that this program is necessary for every procurement manager who wants to learn how to work with stakeholders inside and outside the organisation, analyse the market, work with assortment and stock, manage suppliers and relationships with them – all in all, to become a professional in their field. It is impossible to overestimate the fact that throughout the course students are guided by experienced tutors, who, , revive the theory and supplement it with practical advice and cases. Tutors help go over the chapters of the textbook, which remained unclear after reading in English, help get a deeper understanding of the meaning, adapt the information to the specificities of the national market, connect theory and practice with simple and accessible tools. I had to work not only in Ukrainian and international companies, but also in grant organizations. Despite the extensive practical experience, CIPS training allowed a new and broader look at procurement in the organization, allowed to see the processes more globally as a balanced system, to identify development areas and increase work efficiency. Each lesson is very informative for different reasons: people come to CIPS from different economic sectors, therefore there is an opportunity to share experiences, analyse practical examples, learn and understand the specificities of procurement in other areas, and this is an added bonus of the programme. CIPS, emphasizing the importance of establishing connections and cooperation, promotes the creation of a network of professional contacts of Ukrainian procurement professionals.
CIPS is a datum focused on the advantages of the company
CIPS diploma increases your value as a professional on the market.
Pavlo Nazarok, Head of Ukrgasvydobuvannia’s illiquid assets sales department
I really like that this programme has a structure that is often absent in many educational courses in this field, as well as in our profession as a whole. There are more cases, more practical knowledge, which are based on real life. It is important to note that professional procurement is not taught in universities. And while working, you often only get some tools that you can use in this area in one way or another. Therefore, Diploma in Procurement & Supply is a kind of exclusive education in Ukraine. Speaking of favorite topics we have to mention negotiations. A huge number of models, materials, approaches – it was very interesting. A CIPS diploma increases your value as a professional in the market, and that is appealing. In many areas, thanks to CIPS, I see a system – I can analyse the potential scenarios. And more interestingly, this is a special practice dictated by CIPS, which is based on the experience of numerous companies. It provides a datum, and thanks to this you don’t have to aimlessly follow the tide without a clear direction in mind. You understand where to start and how to ultimately construct all the elements according to CIPS. You know where to go at the beginning, in the middle and at the end. And without CIPS, you usually take on what you know well: say, I’m good with analytics, so let’s start with analytics; or I am a strong debater – let’s negotiate with everyone. But does this approach guarantee success for the company? Not quite.
At the same time, CIPS allows you to build a datum, in which the focus is the efficiency of the company.
